ABSTRACT

In this report we describe a primigravida who presented with blurred vision and unsteady gait after protracted hyperemesis gravidarum [HG]. She was found to have vertical nystagmus, limited upward-gaze, peripheral sensory loss and truncal ataxia with rombergism. Fundoscopy revealed numerous and bilateral retinal haemorrhages. Magnetic resonance imaging [MRI] of the brain and auditory evoked responses were normal. She improved after thiamine treatment
